Everything But The Kitchen Sink

Bespoke kitchen and bedroom units, with made-to-measure sloped-ceiling pantry and custom linen storage

When it came to renovating their Jersey property, development team Ian and Wendy Leedham had a clear idea of what they wanted to achieve, and they knew that bringing their vision to reality wouldn’t be without challenges.

Sloped ceilings and non-standard depths for kitchen cabinets, along with bespoke oak finishes were just some of the obstacles that came with the project.

After speaking to numerous companies, the Leedhams met an existing customer of ours from Jersey who thoroughly recommended Basically Trade as a manufacturer of custom designs.

Wendy, who acted as project manager on the renovation, said: “There was a lot of work involved in the project as it covered so many different rooms and each space had its own unique requirements. We did our research and considered lots of different suppliers, but we didn’t find any products that perfectly met our specification, or the sort of organisation we were looking to partner with until we contacted Basically Trade.

“The quality of their products was exactly what we were looking for, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. The team were very responsive and the service was incredibly efficient; you wouldn’t have known we were in the midst of a pandemic.

“It was very much a collaborative project, and we had regular consultation sessions with the technical guys to make sure what we were asking for was doable and that it could be achieved within our budget.

“The price was competitive and they offered the flexibility to adapt the cabinets and designs to suit each room, without driving up the cost too much.”

This project involved a series of consultations with the team here at Basically Trade to ensure the desired results could be achieved, which was not one of our standard finishes. The kitchen carcasses were built bespoke using 18mm MFC EGGER U795 Brown-Grey ST9 with BLUM fittings and 2mm front edging as standard, while the doors were a mix of Oak Veneered 19mm MDF Slab doors and PVC edged U795 Brown Grey Doors with Multiplex Black Edging. Oak veneered items had matching edges with 10% lacquered finish and the look was finished with slim rail handles throughout.

For the pantry we used 18mm MFC EGGER H1733 Mainau Birch with BLUM Fittings in a made-to-measure configuration the client had designed to make best use of the awkward space.

The linen storage was built using 18mm MFC EGGER U717 ST9 Dakar Grey with matching vinyl-wrapped doors in an Aldridge style and BLUM Fittings, with 2mm front edging. Bottom units were manufactured separate to the top, with oak veneered 25mm worktops.

Each of the three bedrooms had a slightly different finish:

Cabinets for the master bedroom were manufactured in U708 ST9 Light Grey and had the Integra style paintable drawers and panels from Bella which were spray finished in Farrow & Ball Light Blue, with lacquered oak veneered worktops.

The second bedroom had W980 Platinum White cabinets with High Gloss White doors, and bedroom three had Ultragloss White sliding doors using the Hafele Slido system.

Wendy added, “We installed all the products and the difference they’ve made to the house as a whole is incredible. The result is that we have a new kitchen, fitted bedrooms, made-to-measure pantry with sloped ceiling, and linen storage – all bespoke and tailored specifically to our project.

“We are 100% satisfied. The Basically Trade team have been a pleasure to deal with from start to finish; thoroughly committed to quality and professionalism. Working with them meant that we didn’t have to compromise on our ideas and we’ve had countless compliments on the finish, quality and design.”

From independent family firms to national organisations, famous designers and major hotels, our client list spreads the length and breadth of Britain and beyond.
